How do I keep the cat inside while allowing the dogs to use the dog door?

I have looked at shock collars to keep her away from the door, but I think they are a bit cruel. The dog door doesn’t have the electronic magnet closure and I don’t really want to replace it. She just recently learned to go out and I’m not always around to shoo her away from it.

Get an electric Dog Door that only opens to certain collars, aka your dogs. http://www.hitecpet.com/powerpetdoors.html

Hope This Helped!!!

She’s a cat, the only way you’re keeping her from that door is an electro magnetic door with collars only on the dogs unless you can manage to lock her out of the room with the doggy door.
Or just let her out, she’s a cat, they’re smart and you can’t keep them in all the time.

Why isn’t the cat allowed out? Keeping her locked inside is what’s cruel.

Scrap the doggie door. Take all animals, cat included, out to potty. Call me stupid, but I know people who do take their cats out to potty, for walks, etc.

This is actually a good question, and I wish I had an answer because I have the same issue. The only solution I came up with was buying that fancy schmancy electric door. Then I was worried that the cat might lurk by the door and squeeze out with the dogs. I didn’t want to risk it.

And for those of you giving her crap for leaving the cat in the house, you cannot possibly know the cat or the situation! For example, a ragdoll cat would do horribly outside… they are simply not fit because of their mild temperament. My roommate has a cat that has eye issues. She wouldn’t be able to find her way back if she wandered too far. So is it cruel to keep these cats in the house? No way!

I think that given your situation the magnetic dog door may be your best bet.
