Dog Health Insurance Plans – Getting the Best Health Insurance for your Dog

A few decades ago, dogs could fend for themselves when it came to their health, helped along by the occasional trips to the veterinarian. These days, however, it’s unthinkable for an owner to not get involved in every aspect of his dog’s well-being. That’s why dog health insurance plans are increasingly becoming available. Pet dogs are treated just like members of the family, so it’s understandable that any dog owner wants to protect them and be sure that their needs will be taken cared of. Dog health insurance not only helps make sure that your pet can get the best available care, but it also keeps your finances intact and provides you with a ready means to fund your dog’s medical expenses.

Veterinarian fees and medical costs are on the rise, and having a reliable dog health insurance plan is one way for you to be able to cope. Not only will you be able to have money set aside for your dog’s medical emergencies, but this also means your dog can promptly receive medical attention when needed.

Getting a dog health insurance plan is much like getting your own health plans. It also comes with premiums, exemptions, and various coverage plans. Some plans are based on the dog’s breed and size, and others may cover pre-existing conditions as well as annual checkups, so you have to check each plan’s details thoroughly. Most dog health insurance policies usually start when the dog is already six to eight weeks old.

If you don’t know where to look for dog health insurance, you can ask your vet. He or she might turn out to be a provider for a dog health insurance plan and may be able to help you make your decision. You can even turn to the Internet. Simply do a search for “dog health insurance plan” and you’ll immediately see numerous results from insurance providers focusing specifically on pets. Once you’ve narrowed down your selection, you can contact the companies one by one and request a free quote. Be sure to ask the important questions, such as what each plan covers, if they require physical exams, any exclusions, and their maximum payout.

Finding the right dog health insurance plan is definitely something that you shouldn’t take lightly. You’re going to want the best possible plan for your pet, so make sure that every possible illness or incident is covered. After all, your dog deserves nothing but the best care from you.

Why is it that all republican plans for health care reform prevent sick people from getting health insurance?
I’ve read all of their plans. They would create competition, but also destroy all safe havens in health insurance for people with pre-existing conditions as well as remove state laws that protect the consumer from misleading practices.
Dante, I’ve read the patient choice act too. It creates an insurance exchange with rules that will allow people with preexisting conditions to sign up for insurance, but insurance companies don’t have to join the exchange or offer any plans under its rules. And they don’t have any reason to do so.

Yeah, I bet you’ve read them all. Where’s the link ? BTW – maybe they’ll put you in charge of reading those 1,000 page bills that get signed before anyone reads them. You could be a speed-reader :)

I heard Rush Limbaugh say that the pay per visit for your dogs and cats was proof that we did not need health insurance. The solution was to put the pets down if they caused trouble.

Your side is losing at the moment, despite an obscene majority in Congress. You’re not going to get your "free" health care. Oh no! You might have to work for a living.

That’s absurd. Do you realize that only 11% of Americans lack any form of health care? (Check the census bureau website.) Most of those are 18-34. Why institute a sweeping comprehensive government-mismanaged system to cover 11% of the population?

It’s a much better alternative than what Obama wants. He wants "free" healthcare for everyone, but the problem with that thinking is, it’s NOT free. And also when you create competition, you also increase the quality of care. Obama’s plan would turn our health care system into that of what Canada and the UK have, and their health care systems suck. If we have a national health care system, the quality of care will be worse, NOT better.

There are currently about 20 practicing or former physicians elected to the U.S. House and Congress. They have been making proposals for months but strangely enough, not a single doctor sits on Obummers Health Care board — and you want to trust your health care to some bureaucrats in D.C.?

And for everyone talking about free healthcare.

No one is offering or asking for free healthcare. We are asking for health insurance that costs less than $2000 a month.

And we want to be sure that if we get sick our insurance company can’t suddenly cancel us for no reason.

We do not have the best healthcare in the world. If you believe that, you have never been in another country.

Tort reform has been implemented in a number of states. It has not reduced the cost of healthcare by a single penny.

Those of you who think we don’t need healthcare reform weren’t paying attention to the election.

A main part of Obama’s platform was healthcare reform. We voted for it, he won and we expect to get it.

If you don’t want it, turn it down.

First off healthcare and health insurance are 2 different things. We have the best healthcare in the world now, and everyone has access at a very fast response time. What the democrats plan would do is ensure no one would get good health care because they would control the pay and ration care to those that they feel are worthy of socialized care.

How come all the Social Democratic plans involve "sharing the wealth" and not a self-supporting system? And if the government is such an expert on healthcare, why don’t they just model this new program on government programs already in place like medi-care, medi-caid, Tricare, and the VA health systems? You know why? Because they all stink!

That’s not true, they support tort reform and health-care accounts. And they support universal access. What they support is the exact opposite of what you think you support, a system that will deny people treatment just like in the UK and Canada.

I have said this a million times. Republicans do not like people (or any living thing either) – they want everyone to be miserable including themselves.
They prefer big business and rich people get wealthfare but needy and regular people must suffer.
Human misery is the only time they feel happiness!
It is genetic defect, they cannot help it.

Paul Ryan has proposed the Patients Choice Act and one of his big selling points is how much it helps people with pre-existing conditions. Through job-lock, you can’t be denied coverage if you have pre-existing condition on his plan. And the state laws will be untouched, you made that up entirely. Republicans are trying to keep health care private, while reforming it. It has nothing to do with the misleading practice laws that exist. Paul Ryan’s plan puts people on medicaid on the same level as everyone else and it gives people who can’t normally afford health care the ability to purchase it with no new cost. All while cutting our medicare/aid tax we have now, not increasing it like Obama.

Here is an article by Rep. Ryan. The last paragraph details how he would get health care to currently uninsured people with pre-existing problems.

If Obamacare comes to fruition, then you can talk about misleading practices! Just like all the fraud they have with medicare/cade. This is going to be a big mess for every American to deal with.

Where did you get these phony talking points, moveon or huffinpuffpost?

Competition among insurance firms brings lower prices and increased quality. When the government runs health care, where are you going to go when THEY deny your medically needed procedure?

This is about political power, period. The dems want to control health care because then they can control the voters and the entire population.

Why is do you want a bureaucrat in DC (who is impossible to fire) determining what, if any, health care you receive? Please spare me the line about the ‘insurance clerk denying claims.’ Insurance companies have to fight for their existince just like any other free market business. The government, by contrast, can simply steal more of our hard-earned dollars or fire up the printing press at the mint to make more.

Medical professionals—not private-sector rejects like the flunkies who’ll populate Dear Leader’s medical review boards—should make medical decisions. And yes, insurance firms have doctors on staff who make medical decisions. They make the wrong choice and they can be out of a job quickly.

No one will fire an Obamacrat until he is kicked out of office in 2012.
