Keep Your Pet Safe With An Outdoor Dog Kennel
If you are a dog owner without a backyard and don’t like the idea of chaining your pet to a tree but also do not like to let him run free then an outdoor dog kennel may be the perfect way to keep you pet safe when you are away. An outdoor kennel works well if you don’t mind having your dog in the house with you when you are home but not when you are at work or out doing other things. If you are concerned that your pet may run away or get hit by a car then a kennel will give you the peace of mind that your four legged friend is safe.
Your can get an outdoor kennel in almost any configuration that best suits the needs of you and your dog. When it becomes to decide which type of kennel will work best here are a few things to think about. If you are renting or leasing your home it may be best to go with a kennel that can be easily dismantled and relocated if and when you move. If you own your home something more permanent that can be integrated into your yard will probably work best.
A permanent outdoor dog kennel has the advantage of being bigger as well, giving your dog more room to move around when you are not home. A smaller portable dog kennel will obviously not have as much room and it can be something of a hassle to put up and take down at times.
If you are leaning more towards a permanent outdoor dog kennel then you will have to decide if you want to build it or have someone else do the dirty work for you. If you decide to build your own dog kennel then spend some time researching plans and materials. You can find all sorts of plans and ideas just by searching on the internet. Be sure to measure the area in your yard where you want to place the kennel before you decide on a plan to make sure it will fit. Once you find a plan or design your own to the size and specs you want it is time to get the material and set up you dogs new kennel.
An outdoor dog kennel is a great way to keep your pet safe when you are not home. It may take a little time for your dog to get used to being confined in his new kennel but before long it will be like his second home and you will like the peace-of-mind you have knowing he will be safely awaiting your return whenever you go to work or out to run errands.

Some Tips To Help You Get Ready For Your New Pet
Perhaps your children have begged and pleaded for a new pet, promising to take care of it so that you won’t have to. Maybe you live alone and decided to get a pet to keep you company or to provide safety for your home. Whatever the reason, you finally decide to go for it and adopt a new friend.
There are so many types of pets to choose from that the choices are endless. Aside from the conventional cat or dog, you can choose fish, snakes, mice, birds or any number of furry or feathered critters. The important thing is to be ready for them before you even bring them home.
If you don’t know how to prepare for your new pet, the first place to seek information is from the veterinarian that you plan to take it to. Not only will they be able to tell you what you will need to prepare for your new pet, you will also be able to find out about vaccination and annual checkup fees. You can inquire about pet insurance so that should a medical emergency befall your pet, you can be assured of having some or most of the fees covered. It’s important to read pet insurance policies carefully so that you are aware of what is covered and what isn’t. You will also need to know if you will need to pay for the care upfront and be reimbursed or if the insurance agency will allow the vet to bill them for the services.
Ask the vet what the best food to provide for your pet is. Walking into a pet or grocery store and seeing the countless brands and types of food can be extremely confusing. There’s food that fights tartar or hairballs. Some are easy on the digestion while others are made to keep your pets active. Your vet will best be able to advise you on the type of food that you should provide your pet with.
Grooming supplies are another concern. Long haired pets may need more attention to grooming than the shorter haired ones but either way, you will need to know how to clean their fur or feathers and know how often this needs to be done. There are plenty of professional groomers that can take of this for you but if you choose to take care of this yourself then you will need to make sure that you are using the right products.
The same way that humans are encouraged to take vitamins to help to improve and maintain good health; the same rule applies to your pets. There are plenty of vitamins on the market but it can be difficult to know which ones that you should give to your pets. Again, you can ask your vet about this to get suggestions on which of the many vitamins on the market are the best ones to give your new friend.

Pet Id Tags and the Law (uk) – a Must Read for Any Dog Owner in the UK
Don’t end up with a £5,000 fine by getting it wrong, everyone should read this!
Many of us in the UK love to spoil our pets with various accessories like coats, jumpers, ‘doggles’ and even shoes! One of the most important things however that should not be neglected or forgotten is a Pet ID Tag.
Pet Identification not only makes sense (in case you pet gets lost) but also is a LEGAL requirement in the UK!
The law requires your to have your name, address (including postcode) and ideally phone number on the pet identification.
“The Control of Dogs Order 1992 mandates that any dog in a public place must wear a collar with the name and address (including postcode) of the owner engraved or written on it, or engraved on a tag. Your telephone number is optional (but advisable).” [ref Kennel Club website]
If you don’t follow the law with this, you could risk a £5,000 fine!!
In our opinion, the BEST way to get your pet identification all wrapped up, is to take our 5 step plan…
- Get your pet microchipped
- Get yourself a quality engraved pet ID tag disc. Ideally ensure it’s a nice thick disc, with quality engraving (not cheap scratch engraving like you might find in help yourself pet shops). Add your name and address. And hopefully if space, phone number. Also if you can, add a line like “I am microchipped”.
- Ensure the tag is attached to the collar with a high quality split ring. Don’t use one that has a cheap round metal attachment which will eventually bend and allow the tag to come loose from the collar!
- Get an embroidered personalised dog collar with your name and phone number. This ensure that if for some reason the tag has come loose from the collar, or an old person who cant read the small engraving text, can still easily find your phone number from the large text embroidery on the collar!
- Check the details are up to date at regular intervals, if you move, change name, or phone number then get your pet identification updated immediately.
Best Pet Collars sell personalised custom embroidered dog collars and have a fantastic range of pet ID tags which can be with you in less than a week from ordering.

Does anybody use the akc pet healthcare plan?
Is it worth the cost? Is it offered to every person who registers with the akc? Just looking for some input from dog owners. Any input would be appreciated…..
It depends on your situation. I personally don’t use it, but I work at a vet and therefore get a discount on all medical expenses. I have some clients that use it and love it. It is a very reputable plan (unlike some which are just money pits!).
If I were to use a healthcare plan I would use the AKC plan. I think it’s the best one. I do give it as an option to all my new owners.
How to Find thePerfect Pet Urn
When you lose a beloved pet, it can almost be like losing one of the family. Many of use develop a close relationship with our pet, enjoying the unconditional love they always show us, even when we’ve had a bad day and snapped at them. So if you’ve been lucky enough to have a special pet in your life, it’s a great idea to use a pet urn as a treasured memento of their life. You can arrange to have your dog, cat or any other pet cremated, and then place their ashes in a pet urn as a treasured keepsake.
Pet urns are available in a huge variety of styles, with different shapes, colors and sizes. Probably the best place to begin is to decide how much you can afford to pay for a pet urn. Then you’ll be able to stick to looking at urns you can afford, without getting carried away. The cheapest urns are usually the simpler, more basic urns, and the more decoration and personalized touches you add, the more expensive they get. If your budget is limited, you can always get a simple pet urn and then use other mementoes, such as a collar, to make it special.
It’s also a good idea to think about what you want to do with the urn. Many people bury them in the yard and plant a memorial tree. In that case, a simple urn is sufficient. However if you plan to put the pet urn on display, then it might be best to choose a more elaborate design to help make it attractive to look at.
If you’ve decided you want to get a more decorative pet urn, there are plenty of varieties to choose from. You can choose a vase-shaped urn decorated with carving, right through to a life-sized replica of your pet. Perhaps you could choose a pet urn with space to put some photos of your pet, or a burial urn that you can bury in the garden that comes with a marker for placing in the ground above the urn. You can even get pet urns shaped like rocks or garden ornaments if you want to place the urn in your garden, but don’t want to bury it in case you move house.
Most people also like to personalize their pet urn in some way. It’s quite common for pet urns to have a brass plate attached, that you can remove easily for engraving. Some urns can also be laser engraved, and others incorporate slots that can be used for inserting photos. Even if the pet urn is fairly basic, you can still place special items around the urn to form a display of your loved pet’s life.
Pet urns are available from a variety of places, including veterinary clinics and pet crematoriums. You may find that a crematorium has a more extensive range, and they can handle the whole process for you. It’s never easy to say goodbye to a good friend, but choosing a pet urn can be a special way to keep your pet’s memory alive forever.

How do I write a business plan for a pet hotel?
I would like to start a business and am in need of some ideas for writing my business plan, then I will be looking for investors? I seen a business in Chesterfield, MO and it was called Petropolis. It was a "hotel" for small animals, cats and dogs mostly. I would like to open something similar to this. Also, what are some good ways of finding out if this would go over well in the area I am looking into? Can you send out a survey to the area asking specific questions? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Before you write a business plan do a market study first. After that, you can based your busines plan to your study. The market study deals on what people want or like for thier pets. you should ask them and then base your plan to thier aswers. Always remember that they will be your customers.
Also. dont forget to study your competitors. know why people bring thier pets there.. Dont follpow what your competitor is doing.. but you have to do something in order to differentiate your service from your competitors.
What to Know When Relocating your Pet to Panama
In many cases, pets are valued as family members as much, if not more, than our traditional two legged members. As a result, their comfort and safety when traveling are as big a concern as ours.
The following provides information that can help you make the best decisions for your pets travel needs.
Your dog or cat must have papers proving that a rabies vaccine was administered at least thirty days, but not more than 180 days prior to entry into Panama.
You must take your pet to the vet for a complete health check as well as to get a certificate for international travel. This health certificate for international travel must be completed within 10 days of the date you plan to travel to Panama.
You must then have your pet’s certificate of international travel stamped by the nearest Panamanian Embassy or Consulate. –These stamps cost approximately $30.00.
Some things to consider when choosing an airline for your pets are:
1. Some airlines have embargos on pet transport during extreme summer or winter months.
2. Most airlines will allow you to take your pet in the cabin with you as long as your pet meets certain weight and size restrictions.
3. There is usually an extra fee associated with bringing pets. Some airlines charge according to the weight of the animal others charge a flat rate.
4. If at all possible, try to arrange for your pet’s flights to be as direct as possible. The less time your pet has to spend traveling, the less stress he will experience.
Once you arrive in Panama with your pet, you must then pay a fee of $130 USD. You must also take an oath agreeing to home quarantine your pet for 40 days.
If any of the above steps are neglected it is possible that the authorities will take your pet upon arrival to Panama to be quarantined for 40 days at the airport vet facilities at a cost of 12 USD per day. In most cases these facilities are not as plush as what your pet may be accustomed to.
The airport vet is the only person who can approve your animals papers and release your pet. The normal hours of the airport vet are between 9AM to 12PM Monday through Friday. And 1PM to 4PM Monday through Thursday. With this in mind, try to arrange the arrival or your pet’s flight according to the airport vets work schedule.

Pet insurance for my bullmastiff… pet plan, more than, the kennel club or another?
I am on a limited budget, but i need a decent lifetime cover policy. Preferably where the premiums don’t rocket after a claim or when the time comes to renew it. More then seem the cheapest, but many people have said not to go with them… are there any other companies you would recommend?
I would agree with the first person that answered, well for the most part. Pets are definitely worth it, they don’t have to be expensive, they are part of our family and we love them. Insurance is just as expensive for animals as it is for people and has just as many flaws.
In our practice, I have actually not seen anyone who has insurance on their pets. I have read over a few plans and didn’t like what I saw. By the time you’ve paid the premiums for a year, you’ve already more than paid for the cost of yearly necessities…vaccinations, flea/tick and heartworm medications, etc. The plans I saw would really only cover anywhere from $500-$900 for a major medical procedure, such as a broken leg or foreign body ingestion. That nowhere near covers the cost but definitely would help…until you look at what you’ve paid in monthly premiums. Seems they kind of cancel each other out.
Any kind of crisis can arise when you own pets, believe me, I’ve seen it all. It is great that you are taking steps to help protect your pet, but I would agree that you should start a savings account, it would earn interest or just put money aside at home. Best of luck to you and your pooch, bullmastiffs are awesome dogs!
Things To Consider When Getting Quotes For Pet Insurance
Wanting to make sure we take care of our pets is nothing new. But for some people, the idea of pet insurance is unexplored territory. If you have been toying with the idea of getting quotes for pet insurance, there are several factors to take into consideration. Here are a few tips to help you pick the pet insurance policy that is right for you and your animal.
Before you begin to evaluated any pet insurance policy, sit down and compile your wish list of coverage you hope to find available. This may include such things as a prescription co-payment plan, low deductibles for surgery and other major medical matters, some price breaks on annual checkups, teeth cleanings, de clawing, or other health measures you normally take to ensure your pet’s sound condition. Keep in mind you may not find a pet insurance policy that will cover everything on your wish list, so prioritize your items. This will help ensure you do get a policy that addresses the healthcare needs you consider most important.
Perhaps one of the most crucial things to consider when evaluating getting quotes for pet insurance is whether or not your current veterinarian accepts a give policy. This can easily be determined, by asking the office manager at the vet’s office. They will be happy to give you the names of various insurance providers they work with. By finding out who your current vet works with, you already have a small degree of endorsement of those companies. Just like doctors, veterinarians do not like to work with insurance companies that make filing claims difficult, or who are slow to pay.
Once you have a list of potential carriers, do some research on the pet insurance policies each one offers. Chances are they all will have a fairly comprehensive selection of policy types to choose from. Take your wish list and note which ones offer coverage for the items on your wish list. You can use this data to arrive at three or so potential pet insurance carriers that will cover your pet for the health concerns you believe are most important.
At this juncture, let the interview begin. Contact a representative of each of the pet insurance providers you have selected and schedule appointments to discuss a policy for your pet. Make sure that during the course of the appointment, you double-check the information you read online, just to make sure it is current and correct. The agent or representative may also have some questions for you about the health of your pet, so be prepared to answer any of those. Between the two of you, the agent should have enough information assembled to offer you a policy that will be a good fit. However, do not sign anything until you have met with representatives of all the pet insurance providers you’ve contacted.
Once you have firm quotes for pet insurance and information from all three of the finalists, compare and contrast them until you narrow the running down to two, and then finally one. Always make sure you contact all three to let them know of your decision. Should things not work out with the pet insurance provider you select, you do want to be on cordial terms with your other two contacts when the time comes to renew your policy.

what pet plan insurance pay the full vet bill ,where we dont have to pay the first so much up front?
ive got a puppy and want to get it insured ,UK ONLY….but ive heard some insurance company’s make you pay some upfront ..i want a policy that they pay all the vet bill no matter what …do you know any one that does this thank you
There is none…they all require an excess to be paid up front. You best start a savings account with enough for a couple of excess fees in there.
