8. An ambulance paramedic that loves to give shots.

9. The police officer writing you a ticket.

10. Your car exploding.

Here are ten actual tips of advice from a car accident attorney to follow if you have been in an accident. You can also learn more about how to handle a personal injury in La Quinta, or any city, by calling the Law Offices of R. Sebastian Gibson at any of the numbers which can be found on our website at http://www.SebastianGibsonLaw.com and learning how we can assist you.

Obviously, if you have had an accident, and you are reading all of this advice, it’s at least been a few hours since the accident. That being said, we can run through what you should have done at the scene pretty quickly, since it’s probably too late to remedy what’s already happened. However, if you ever have another accident, here’s what you should do the next time.

First, take a look around and determine if you or anyone, are hurt. If so, taking steps like trying to prevent further injury or loss of blood are the most important thing you can do. Even if some other driver caused you to be injured, it’s just good manners to help the other driver if they are hurt. They may even be so thankful that they admit their fault to you. The worst thing you can do is get angry or start a fight.

Second, make sure everyone is safe from being injured further. If you are in the middle of traffic, and you are dizzy, sit down away from traffic. If your vehicle is a traffic hazard and you have accident warning devices like flares or triangles, put them out on the road to warn other drivers and get away from the car. Let the police an other emergency personnel investigate the scene with the vehicles in place and move them more safely at a later point.

Third, call the police. Accident reports are extremely helpful if the police will do such a report. Let the police know you are injured immediately. Answer the police questions honestly. But if you are dazed or confused, let them know you need medical treatment and answer only what you feel sure about. Remember, your statements can and will be used against you if you admit fault, and it will be too late and too fishy to later say you didn’t know what you were saying at the scene. Police know that your best recollection is immediately after an accident.

Fourth, get the other driver’s information including their names, addresses, driver’s license numbers, make and model of their vehicles, license plate numbers, and their insurance company name and policy number. If there are witnesses, get their names, addresses and telephone numbers as well. If the other driver makes any admissions of fault, write those down as well.

Fifth, if you have a camera on your cell phone or in the car and you aren’t too injured, take some photos of the vehicles and the scene. If you can’t do it right away, do it after you are released from the hospital.

Sixth, if you are hurt, obtain medical treatment. Don’t decline the ambulance or hospital examination to save your insurance company money or to be stoic. Take your valuables out of your car if you can and get checked out at the hospital. If you are not hurt, don’t get treatment you don’t need. However, remember, after an accident, you may feel a rush of adrenaline that causes you to only start feeling symptoms of pain a few hours later. If you have a health plan that requires you to obtain permission first, call them and find out where you are allowed to seek treatment.

Seventh, call a good car accident attorney as soon as you have had your initial treatment, so the attorney can gather other important evidence and prevent the insurance company from taking advantage of you and obtaining such things as recorded statements that you feel fine, when many of your symptoms have yet to manifest themselves. A good car accident attorney can save you from making a great deal of mistakes and can shoulder much of the hassle of knowing what to do about car repairs, car rentals, medical treatment, witness statements and the like. If you think you will save money by not having an attorney, think again. A good car accident attorney can almost always obtain much higher settlements, obtain reductions of medical bills and insurance liens and prevent you from making costly mistakes. Also, most car accident attorneys advance costs of obtaining police reports, medical records and the like and are paid and reimbursed for these costs only out of any settlement.

Eight, you will need to report the accident to your insurance company, but since they will want to take a recorded statement from you, just like any other driver’s insurance company, it’s good advice to retain an attorney first. And if the other driver did not have insurance, remember that it is your own insurance company that will be your adversary. You will also need to report the accident to the Department of Motor Vehicles and your attorney can give you the form for this.

Ninth, do not agree to settle your claim privately with the person at fault for the accident. This almost never works out to your advantage. Don’t agree not to call the police. Police reports that determine the fault for an accident are golden. Your agreement to not involve the police only affords an opportunity for the other driver to change his story and blame you when the police will no longer investigate the accident.

Tenth, don’t pay a traffic ticket if you weren’t at fault or agree to accept a small payment for your vehicle repairs without knowing that the amount will in fact cover the cost of all the repairs.

If you’ve had a car accident in Palm Springs, Palm Desert, Indio, Coachella, Rancho Mirage, La Quinta, Indian Wells, Cathedral City, Desert Hot Springs, Thermal, Yucca Valley, Joshua Tree, Twentynine Palms or anywhere in Southern California, we have the knowledge and resources to be your La Quinta Car Accident Lawyer and your Palm Desert Car Accident Attorney. Be sure to hire a California law firm with auto, motorcycle, truck, bicycle, pedestrian, car, bus, train, boat and airplane accident experience, wrongful death experience and insurance law expertise who can ensure you are properly represented and get the compensation you deserve.

No, you don’t have to buy insurance, just have money! Insurance is good if your dog’s breed has a tendency to genetic health issues. Once you get a dog, be sure to establish with it with a vet, to keep shots and preventatives current, for it’s health.

1. Do you have insurance for your dog in general? Why or why not?
2. If you do how much is your monthly premium? Do you feel like you get your money’s worth?
3. Anyone in Canada have a company they would recommend?

Is it normal for my dog’s insurance to start at $420/year and go up to $980 for a 24lb mutt?

The $980 plan covers 6 months of flea, tick, heartworm preventative, annual shots and more dental than the others. Am I better to start with a cheaper plan and move up the next year if I find it worthwhile?

Am I maybe better just to have money saved in quickly cashed-in investments for emergencies?

$420 a year seems like a lot of money considering it doesn’t cover his shots, preventatives, etc- which is mostly why I go to the vet now (he’s had 1 throat infection= $100- which wouldn’t have been covered if it was the only thing to happen because of the deductible).

Any opinions?

I refuse to waste my money on pet insurance. More often than not, I would not spend the amount that insurance premiums charge and the chances of something big happening are not that great. I would prefer to take those premiums and tuck them away into a savings account, year after year, and then use that money when needed, if needed. If something big did happen, I would use an emergency only credit card, or work a payment plan out with my vet if I didn’t have the cash on hand.

I do believe that tho some have benefited from this, most will spend more on premiums than what they will get in return in actual medical coverage. That’s how all insurance companies make a profit tho.

We all need to hear so we are aware of what is going on around us and expect to be able to use it especially when to alert us of any dangers. Dogs also need to be able to hear, but it is expected that they can adapt to life without it. While some dogs manage, is there any reason why dogs shouldn’t use a hearing aid?

Dogs can live up to a good age and easily reach their teens before long. With good veterinary care and modern medicine they can live to a ripe old age. Just like humans, as they get older, they will suffer from conditions that come with age like their hearing.

You will notice when your dog loses its hearing as suddenly he is less responsive when you call his name or may not look up at all. If he is facing you he is more likely to respond. Or when he is called you find that he is looking in the wrong direction. Other signs are that he is sleeping most of the time, and will only wake when you touch him. You may also notice that he is shaking his head around like a child would with hearing problems, and they start to make a fuss of their ears. This is when a hearing aid could come in handy to help your dog overcome these problems.

This is a clinic in Texas which can give a hearing test to any dogs that are brought in with suspected hearing loss. Once the test has been carried out, the dog’s owner will have more of an idea of what hearing loss their dog is diagnosed with and if there are any suitable solutions to help them. The centre offers a plans to help dogs get used to wearing a hearing aid. Over a month the volume of the aid is gradually adjusted to the right level for the dog. The price is about $250 for each aid. The programs are designed to ease a dog gently into wearing a hearing aid and get used to the idea with the least discomfort.

There is a contraption available for dogs as a hearing aid which easily fits onto their collar. The aid comes in a container which is collar mounted, with a tube leading from it to a foam plug which is placed in the dog’s ear. This is very much structured like the BTE, that is Behind the Ear, hearing aids. These devices tend to be tolerated by smaller dogs, as the larger dogs don’t take to them as well.

There are companies that can offer ITE, In the Ear, hearing aids to suit dogs. A doctor will take a mould of the dog’s ear canal, which is then sent on for the laboratory to use and build the human ITE into it. Once that is made the dog has to go through the normal testing before the hearing aid is fitted in his ears, although that could be a difficult step. This is the risk and expense that owners take as some dogs will tolerate a hearing aid and others won’t stand for it. Some pet veterinary insurance companies do actually cover the cost of these devices.

A dog is more confident if he can hear his owner’s voice. He is also alert to danger around him and can respond when he needs to. Hearing loss can make it confusing for him as he suddenly notices changes in his hearing world. Having a hearing aid will make all the difference and make him happier at coping with life. Any loving dog owner will understand these reasons.

In 1849 hundreds of men made the grueling climb across the Rocky mountain scope before stepping against California’s soil. These men, who narration remembers as forty-niners, came to California with dreams of stunning a mother layer of gold and spending the rest of their living in the lap of luxury. Few of these forties-niners had possessions value speaking of, just the unkempt torn clothes they were wearisome, a spoon, a pan specially intended to select through river residue, and an old mule to drag their find out of the mountains.

Over a hundred and fifty existence have conceded since the last forty-niner made their closing trek across the Rockies with only his own influence and a cantankerous old mule named Worthless for business. In this new present world a different form of self is journeying across the country seeking the answers for all their dreams and prayers in the cheery California sunlight. Today its students, recently armed with make new high educate diplomas and a tiny sub-compact car rich down with pricey clothing and glamour shots, seeking not gold but slightly fame under the sharp lights of an acting studio. Like the fortey-niners, many of these prospect stars have only their CD collections and a family pet to keep the company on the long maneuver across the country.

What many of these Hollywood hopefuls don’t achieve is the animal vigor field of the California Department of Food and Agriculture has policy and regulations for bringing pets into the grandeur. Most of the policy will contain the babyish pet possessor to take their pet to the veterinarian for a cycle of shots and an exam before leaving for the land of picture stars and millionaires. The grasp of pet shape caution coverage can sometimes let the youngsters get the habit vet work out of the way lacking forcing them to dip to seriously into their savings.

Domestic cats that are infected with a contagious disease are not tolerable into California. Cats are not vitals to have a present rabies vaccination nor do they have to have a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection before they annoyed the disarray line into California. They must have a shape certificate if they are impending from a corner that was under rabies quarantine. If you are coming into the public of California via airplane test with the airline about what fitness requirements they enforce before allowing your cat to fly. Before you ditch your home urban for the California beach line, ask your veterinarian what can be done to make the falter as comfortable and innocent for your cat.

Just like cats the California Department of Food and Agriculture will not allow dogs that are shipping an infectious disease to resist the shape line into California. Any dog over four months of age is mandatory to a certificate stating the time of its last rabies vaccination, the brand of vaccination worn, the manufacturer lot number of the rabies vaccines used, and the name of the vet who gave the insertion. If you are roving by plane ask the airline about any additional health requirements your dog must converge before it is tolerable to fly. The nearer you link your airline the better.

If you are bringing a more exotic mode of pet, such as a potbellied pig, into the status of California you may be required to have a doorway permit.

I got my dog Sept 10 of this year, with no papers. He was a gift and the person told me the lady they got him from is trying to find them. Its almost 3 months and I want to get my dog animal insurance but I can’t until I have his papers with medical history from his past. Is there anyway I can get new papers from a new vet without having to track down the stuff from the past? Just so everyone knows he is a purebred dog.
He’s also a 2yr.old dog

Our pup isn’t purebred and we had no trouble signing him up without medical records. If you’ve adopted him and don’t have access, I don’t see why it would be a problem. I’d just tell the company that you’ve only had him for three months and don’t have access to his old information. The other option is just to find out the name of his vet and give the vet’s name to the company so they can have the records. It didn’t seem that complicated with the company we went with. They were really helpful.

According to a report published by research group Mintel, one in three pets needs an unforeseen visit to the vet each year. This implies you’re more likely to make a claim on your pet insurance than on your car insurance or even your home & contents policy.

The word “unforeseen” is key here. If you’re looking for pet insurance to provide cover for routine treatments such as teeth cleaning, vaccinations or nail trimming, forget it — policies which provide that are as rare as hens’ teeth! Neither will you find cover for elective treatments, such as neutering and identity chipping. This means that the most common grounds for visit the vet are uninsurable.

But it’s those unexpected visits that tend to be the high-priced ones! Developments in vet nary care mean that new and more complex conditions can be effectively treated. But the cost of emergency care can be horrendous. A cat that failed to cross the road could easily cost £700, even more, to treat. After all, a series of X-rays could cost £400 complete with anaesthetic, and you’ll have no change from £1,000 for a MRI scan. If Lassie the Labrador tore a ligament that can now be treated — but the cost? Wait for it — around £1,500! This is serious money!

Having appreciated that most reasons for an appointment at the vet are uninsurable, what do we get for our premiums?

Pet insurance policies basically fall into three categories. The first limits the value of the claim for each condition or event; the second places a maximum value on the total annual payout and the third and cheapest option, limits the payout per condition and ends cover after 12 months of treatment. And with all policies you will have to pay an excess on any claim, usually between £50 and £100. The majority of these plans payout a fixed sum if you pet dies.

And the cost? Well, that depends on which type of policy you select, the excess you want to pay, the kind of pet you have, its breed, its age and even your post-code (apparently vets are more expensive in Kensington!). But as a guide, an industry expert estimates costs between £50 to £500 for Lassie and £30 and £200 per year for puss.

The best advice is take out a policy when your pet is young. Most pets can be insured after they’re 8 weeks old and then you keep the insurance in place for the rest of its life. If you’re looking for a policy for a pet that’s in it’s middle age, say eight or nine for a dog, then it may be difficult to get worthwhile cover. That’s because starting a new policy in your pet’s middle age will be expensive and in any case you’ll be unable to claim for treatments for any existing health conditions.

So how can you reduce the premiums? Sometime you can get a discount if you pet has been identity chipped and quantity discounts are usually available for second and subsequent pets. Beyond that you simply have to shop around. Thank goodness for the Internet!

The Internet is taking an increasing share of the insurance market and no wonder — it makes shopping simple, quick and easy. What’s more it’s probably the cheapest starting place for all your insurance whether it be for your car, home, or pet. Let your keyboard take the strain.

Obama’s dog, Bo, is rumored to be working on "Bo Care". It’s a $900 billion piece of legislation and all you have to do to see what’s in it is pass it.
BTW, according to one source "If the entire world eliminated dogs, the total output of greenhouse gases would be reduced by 1.8%." Keep an eye out for environmental extremists…

When most people think a pet is spoiled feel that it is getting to many treats, has too many expensive toys scattered around the ground, or it’s allowed to sleep at night in bed with its humans, normally taking up the entire bed and hogging all the covers. I once even saw a pot bellied pig who was so spoiled that its humans designed an built the miniature porker its very own out house so it wouldn’t get cold answering natures call.

Japanese pet owners take the term very-important-pets to a whole new level. In Japan well loved pets enjoy aromatherapy, acupuncture, trips to the doggie spa where they a lovingly massaged, and in some cases have their very own personal trainers.

It is a well known fact that we tend to spoil our pets because we love them we want them to have the best of everything but recent studies have shown that pampering our pets might actually doing as much harm as good. One recent study from an undisclosed source claims that we are actually making our beloved pets stupid by spoiling them. We are in such a hurry to make their lives easier that we take away their need to problem solve on their own. The less they have to loose their brains the less they can do on their own. This problem is especially common in households were the dog seems to be running the show. What would happen to that pet if it really had to think for itself?

A concern veterinarians have regarding spoiled pets is weight. The more spoiled the pet the more obese it seems to become. The obesity can lead to later health issues that can actually decrease the life of the pet. Weight can affect the skeletal system until hip problems start to develop, obesity can cause respiratory and cardiac problems, the extra pounds of blubber constantly pushing on the joints can start to create stiffness and discomfort.

It is not uncommon for veterinarians to see a lot of the spoiled pet as it enters into the last few years of its life. The problem with older overweight pets is that every time they are brought to the vet clinic they are exposed to more germs, bacteria, and viruses that can lead to still more endless trips to the vet.

For the most part the humans caring for the very-important-pet don’t have to worry about the increasing number of the visits to see a doctor. Most doting parents bought pet health care insurance during the early years of the pet’s life. All of the pet’s health care needs are essentially bought and paid for. I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if in a few years you didn’t see pet health insurance companies raising the rates of their VIP customers. On solution to the pudgy, somewhat shallow house pet is the appearance of specialist animal slimming clinics. Pet owners can go to these clinics and learn all about their pets nutritional needs and exercise programs that will help the spoiled child start to shed some of those unnecessary pounds.
