Can my 8 week old puppy meet my friend’s 2 year old dog?

I have a golden retriever puppy who is 8 weeks old. My best friend has a golden retriever who is 2 years old. Her dog is great with puppy’s and is very calm. She has had ALL of her vacinations and is perfectly healthy. Can they meet in a safe envirnment like my house or my friends?

yes you can let them meet inside, just be careful the two year old doesnt hurt your puppy, she would do it by accident because sometimes big dogs try to play with the puppies and they accidentaly hurt them

the whole vet rule about waiting till your puppy is twelve weeks is only for dogs that you dont know extremely well, that could possibly not be healthy

If everyone is up to date on their shots, then yes they can meet. You will have to watch them carefully. It’s good to start socializing your puppy as soon as possible.

I wouldn’t…just because I’m always paranoid my puppy will get something. Their immune systems are so weak. And if I’m not mistaken an adult dog that has all its vaccinations can carry the Parvo virus without being affected by it, but it can still give it to the puppy.

Yes, as long as they are both properly socialized. Otherwise, you may teach them to be a dog-friendly dog. Here are the tips:

How can she have all of her vaccinations? There are three series of vaccinations, and at your pup’s age, I’d be suprised if she had two series yet.

However, if the older dog has been vaccinated, there is no problem with letting them meet in a supervised setting.

Have fun with your puppy! They grow up quickly!

Honestly. I would not….yet. Your puppy has not had her last set of shots yet. She will be do at 12 weeks. AND even though your friend’s dog has all her shots, bordella shots only protects agaisnt a few of the strands of this virus that are out there. Of course kennel cough is fixable but who wants to take a chance of getting their puppy sick. Although it IS very important to socialize your little guy I suggest waiting a few weeks untill after your last set of puppy shots. Sorry, I know this is not what you want to hear. Enjoy your new puppy.

Omg cute! we just got a golden retriever puppy about a month ago and now he is 14 weeks.

You can let them meet I am sure. .

But it is always best for Your puppy to have her first set of real shots. (the ones after you get her.. Because the breeder should have gotten them like some type of shots before you adopted her)

I Dont think you should have a problem.
