What is the best pet insurance?

I just got a 8 week old chihuahua and am on the search for a good pet insurance for her. I have seen so many people who had to put their dogs to sleep because they couldn’t afford to pay for a surgery that could’ve saved the dogs life. I don’t want to get stuck in that situation so I want to get insurance. If been reading reviews on VPI vet pet insurance And have pulled away from it because most of the people who left a review left a bad one. Does anyone know a good pet insurance that I can get in California? Thank you!

I would recommend Trupanion Pet Insurance. It’s around $25 a month and there are no annual limits and no penalties for filing a claim which means your premium won’t go up every time you file a claim. It covers 90% of the veterinary bills for accidents and illnesses.
It’s good that you are reading reviews, because you should find the company that best fits your needs. I would suggest getting quotes from each of the websites to decide how much you want to pay and how much you want your plan to cover.

Links to any webpages/articles relating to the benefits of pet Insurance to the PRACTICE; How to promote it?

How does it benefit the practice?
Promotion ideas?

I have to make out a marketing and promortion for pet Insurance and these questions are hard to find answers for.

Any links at all really. . . Although obviously I know the basics, I’ve been pushing good insurance on owners for years in my clinic; but although it may be easy to do, it’s hard to write about.

This Assignment I have is a real doozie. (2nd year B.Sc Veterinary Nursing Student)
I know all those stories all too well, we had a Berner in our clinic once with an open fracture to her femur; it cost €5000 yes that’s right five thousand euro to fix her, because she had to be referred to the top orthopedic surgeon in Ireland. She is now 100% recovered and it’s all thanks to pet insurance.

I need more facts and figures as opposed to the happy ending stories.

Well if it’s similar to the US, it’s absolutely beneficial to the practice because:

Someone without insurance is going to either not pay for treatment or find the cheapest possible treatment.

Someone WITH insurance won’t be afraid to get the best medical treatment for their pet without worrying about cost. This ensures that the practice will thrive and bring in lots of money and people won’t worry about losing their jobs.

And obviously you would promote insurance to the customer by telling them how it benefits them– peace of mind, can get the best treatment for their pet without worrying about cost, ensures a long healthy life for their pet, etc.

Has anyone else lost a pet through illness and been ripped off by Pet Plan?

I have recently lost my pet dog through death from illness. In my insurance policy I had cover to refund me his purchase price. I purchased my dog in 2003, and, I can longer provide a receipt. Because of this they have calculated a settlement figure on market value at the date of his death. However, I have my terms and conditions and a letter from the insurance company saying it should be market value at date of purchase. I tried going through there complaints process, but, they are not interested. What should I do? Can anyone help?
Remember, I have a letter from Pet Plan saying it is market value AT DATE OF PURCHASE. Now they are going back on that.
All I want is market value at date of purchase. NOT market value at date of death!

PetPlan dealt with the death of two of my Dobermanns in 2007 very professionally & courteously.

The first was straight forward, he was under 8 years old {a term in the policy} & I had kept all the paperwork {including the receipt from the breeder} in a folder. I submitted a claim for death form & was quickly sent the money.

The second was similar to your situation. I could not find the receipt from the breeder, so contacted the breeder of my b*tch who agreed to write/sign a new receipt, which was forwarded to PetPlan. Once Petplan received the receipt, the claim was settled quickly.

When you register a dog/b*tch with PetPlan the price is set at the point by either a) the price you paid {if you can provide evidence by producing a receipt or b) by the average price of the breed if you cannot provide proof of the amount you originally paid.

Petplan is not attempting to rip you off, the company is simply following the terms and condition of the contractual agreement.

Put simply submit a receipt = full amount paid by the policy holder.
no receipt = average price of the breed at the date of
purchase.

I hope the matter is resolved sooner rather than later for you.

how much does it cost for vacinations at avet office for dogs or cats?

it can run in the hundreds not to mention spaying or neutering…try your local pet co, pet smart or human society as many of them have specials on shots and neutering

How can I get the dog door to stop cutting my dogs nose?

I have a 3 year old Redbone hound. She jumps up and darts out the Dog Door at the slightest noise. I recently discovered the reason for her nose looking cut up. There is a metal strip on the bottom of the flaps that hold it in place with the magnet on the frame, she hits it with her nose running full blast and I believe it is cutting her nose.
Has anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions? I feel bad cuz her nose looks like it’s been put through a shredder! Not to mention the pain she must feel.

get yourself some of the rubber door molding and line the door with it

what is the best uk dog insurance company, that will offer lifelong condition insurance?

I am buying a cavalier king charles spaniel soon and i need to find an insurance company that will provide if my dog gets a lifelong condition (places like tescos only offer for a year).

Isn’t it that if you register your dog before his 8th birthday or something, you can keep the insurance going..?

The Kennel Club might do it, their Dog Insurance is very popular. Or you can use a comparison website? That is what I did.

I hope this helps :)
